How to Install a Laravel PHP Script on cPanel (Step by Step)

Bought a Laravel PHP script and want it live on your own domain? Most scripts sold on Nexgino Elements run on normal cPanel shared hosting. Follow these steps in order.

1. Check the requirements

Open the item's documentation and note the PHP version (for example PHP 8.1 or newer) and the PHP extensions it needs. In cPanel go to Select PHP Version (or MultiPHP Manager), choose the right version and turn on the listed extensions — commonly bcmath, ctype, fileinfo, gd, mbstring, openssl, pdo_mysql, tokenizer, xml and zip.

2. Create a database

In cPanel open MySQL® Databases. Create a new database, create a database user with a strong password, then add the user to the database with All Privileges. Write down the database name, user name and password — the installer will ask for them.

3. Upload the files

Open File Manager, go to the folder of your domain or sub-domain, click Upload and upload the script's zip. Right-click the zip and choose Extract. Make sure the files land directly in the folder (you should see folders like app, public and vendor), not inside an extra sub-folder.

4. Point the domain to the right folder

Laravel serves the website from its public folder. Either set the domain's Document Root to the public folder in cPanel → Domains, or use the root .htaccess file that many scripts include to forward requests to public.

5. Set folder permissions

The folders storage and bootstrap/cache must be writable. In File Manager right-click each one → Change Permissions → 775 (apply to sub-folders if asked).

6. Run the installer

Visit your domain in the browser. Most scripts open an installer that checks requirements, asks for the database details from step 2 and creates the admin account. If there is no installer, copy .env.example to .env, fill in the database details and import the provided .sql file in phpMyAdmin.

7. Finish the setup

  • Cron job: in cPanel → Cron Jobs add the command shown in the script's admin panel (usually it runs every minute). Emails, cleanup and scheduled tasks depend on it.
  • Email (SMTP): create a mailbox in cPanel → Email Accounts and enter its SMTP details in the admin settings, so password-reset and order emails are delivered.
  • SSL: turn on HTTPS from cPanel → SSL/TLS Status (AutoSSL).
  • Debug off: in .env keep APP_DEBUG=false on a live site.

Common problems

  • 500 error right after upload: usually a wrong PHP version or missing extension — recheck step 1.
  • Page shows a file list or 404: the domain is not pointing to the public folder — recheck step 4.
  • "Permission denied" in logs: fix the permissions in step 5.
